The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in postsecondary teaching and learning contexts has grown exponentially within the last few years. Through a partnership with Axio, instructors of MATH 021 (Calculus I) and MATH 022 (Calculus II) aim to provide all students with a personalized AI tutoring experience designed to enhance their learning and success. Metrics on course (d)rop, (f)ailure, and (w)ithdraw rates as well as student user data as they engage with the Axio platform are being collected in collaboration with Lehigh's Office of Instiutional Data. Student success in subsequent course requiring calculus as a pre-requisite will also be documented. Collectively, these data will allow for optimization and scalability of the AI tutor to maximize access and benefit across a student's journey at Lehigh.
